◆ Application Process

1. Submit documents for the JDS China eligibility screening (October)
2. (If you pass the screening) Register through the JDS China online application form(～November 27)
3. Apply to the University of Tokyo MPP/IP program (November 1 – December 3)
   3-1 First screening (online application)
   3-2 Second screening (Interview)
   3-3 Announcement of results (February 19, 2026)
   ※These are the selection processes of the University of Tokyo. JDS China is not involved.
4. (If accepted to MPP/IP) Interview by the JDS China Operating Committee (in late February) and final candidates for the JDS China fellowship will be selected.

◆ Restrictions

• If you are studying at MPP/IP as a JDS China Fellow, you cannot participate in the Double Degree Program.
• You may join the Exchange Program, but scholarship benefits will not be provided during the exchange period.

◆ Exam & Application Fees

• All costs for English proficiency tests (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS) and the GRE test must be covered by the applicant.
• The MPP/IP application fee (10,000 JPY) must be paid by the applicant during the online application process. However, regardless of the outcome, this fee will be refunded by JDS China Program after the examination process.

• You may apply to other universities under the JDS China Program as well.
• However, applying to two universities is considered very demanding.

  Important: All documents from your graduated universities and test institutions must reach the MPP/IP Desk by December 5, 5:00 PM JST. Official transcript and Official certificate of graduation can be either in electronic format or as a hard copy. Delivery may take one month.

◆ English Proficiency Test

◆ GRE General Test

• The GRE General Test measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills. MPP/IP strongly recommends it.

◆ Online Timed Video/Written Assessment

• After submitting your online application, you will be invited to complete an online timed video/written assessment. If you apply early, you'll have enough time to prepare and practice for the assessment

◆ Letters of Recommendation

• Ask two referees to write letters of recommendation as early as possible. These letters should reflect your experience, excellence, and demonstrate that you are a promising person.
